Bad memories can be replaced with good ones. That is how I have dealt with them. A negative cue can ruin your moments but replacing them with the good ones by reminding yourself of a good memory when you are being haunted by a negative one can take that power away from them to a lot extent. It is just one information being replaced by a better one. That way, one doesn’t has to force oneself to forcibly make sense of or bring out the positive out of the negative instances and experiences.

I don’t know if that is the best way to deal with it. I also don’t know if it is effective or if it is just another way of escapism. I am not saying that the bad experiences will definitely stop hurting because of this but that is a possibility. I am not an expert so I am definitely not advising you anything. If we can forget memories, our mind can combine our emotions to make any memory appear more or less beautiful than it actually was at times, then this can be a possibility.

Similarly, I have replaced many bad mental and physical habits with good ones. I have to trick and train my mind and body at times for its benefit because I know that if I don’t do that, then I won’t be able to even start it and if I do, I won’t be able to continue it.
