It is late in the night.
I should be asleep.
The ticking of the hands of the clock
sound like music to me.
They move in an off-beat rhythm—
as I now percieve—
all of them move in various intervals
and are moving in different speeds.
I enjoy the sense of the beats
that the ticking of the clock is producing.
My body is dancing
as the beats repeat.
It wards away my fear
of the eerie silence of the night
because of its sound
and helps me to fight
against being scared
and prevents it from becoming profound.
